Youth Economic Empowerment Through Fisheries Project in TangaCity Council

The Youth Economic Empowerment Through Fisheries project has successfully formed and registered more than 15 youth groups in various sectors of the fisheries industry, including long-line fishing, seaweed and sea cucumber farming, crab fattening, freshwater fish farming, and sardine processing using solar tent dryers.

This initiative has significantly boosted the income of participating youth, enabling them to sell a diverse range of sea products such as seaweed, crabs, and sea cucumbers. Additionally, some beneficiaries were selected to participate in the Protein Week Exhibitions in Dodoma, organized by the Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries, showcasing their products and gaining exposure to new markets.

By providing these young people with the skills and resources to succeed in the fisheries sector, the project has not only empowered them economically but also contributed to the sustainable development of local communities.
