The Mindset Change and Entrepreneurship project, implemented by RLabs during the first phase of the TangaYetu program, has empowered 1,036 young people in Tanga city through transformative leadership training. This initiative has helped 77% of participants either start a new business, secure employment, or return to their studies, significantly enhancing their personal and professional growth.
One of the key successes of the project is the substantial reduction in poverty among participants. At baseline, only 42% were living above the national poverty line, but by midline, this figure had risen to 72%, reflecting a remarkable increase in income within a short period.
Additionally, the formation of 17 Youth Savings and Loans Associations (YSLAs) stands as a critical achievement. These groups have collectively saved 13,246,000 TSH, providing financial stability for participants who initially had little to no income. With 39% of participants now earning over 50,000-100,000 TSH per week, the project is driving sustained economic growth, helping to secure a prosperous future for Tanga’s youth.
